The end of spam on my blog (maybe)

If you have a blog, you no doubt are in constant battle to keep spam comments at bay. Like most Wordpress bloggers, I use Akismet as my defense system, and it’s incredibly effective - as of today it’s caught almost 45,000 junk messages!
But the spam evil-doers are constantly changing their tactics, and over the last few months I’ve seen more and more garbage comments slip through the filter. So I’ve taken spam-blocking measures one step further and installed Blue Anvil’s Spam Stopper. Basically this just incorporates a question into the fields that you fill out when submitting a comment:

By answering the question, it proves that you’re “human.” Granted, the question isn’t hard to answer (I left it at the default), but I will change it to something a little more difficult and that should cut down junk messages to about nothing.
If you have any problems submitting comments, please let me know.

This outlandish hoop is the final straw. You’ve lost one loyal reader, Mr. Brian.
Good day to you, sir!

Ben TG,
Sorry if this cuts down on YOUR ability to push Viagra ads on me, but I’ve got a good stockpile of V and am not interested in purchasing any more at this time. Please take me off your list.
